The short version
This is a personal portfolio site. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. I am not collecting anything about you.
The visitor counter
The counter in the footer is a real, shared, site-wide total: everyone who visits sees the same number. It works like this.
Your browser makes one request to /api/hits on this site, which adds one to a single
stored integer and sends the new total back. That integer is the only thing stored. No
IP address, cookie, user agent, referrer, page path or any other detail about you is recorded alongside
it. There is no way to work out from it who visited, when, or from where.
To avoid inflating the number, your browser remembers that it has already been counted using
sessionStorage (key sh-counted), which is cleared when you close the tab. If
the counter service is unavailable, the page falls back to counting your own visits locally in
localStorage (key sh-visits), which never leaves your browser, and the footer
says so.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own.
Analytics and advertising
There are none. No Google Analytics, no pixels, no third-party trackers, no ad network. The visitor counter described above is not analytics: it is one integer, with nothing attached to it.
Fonts and external resources
Every asset on this site, including stylesheets, scripts, images and video, is served from this site itself. No web fonts and no content delivery networks are loaded, so no third party receives your IP address as a result of the page rendering.
Contact details on this site
My email address and Instagram handle are published on the contact page because I want people to use them. Publishing an address publicly means it will eventually be picked up by automated scrapers; that is my choice and my problem, not yours.
Information you send me
If you contact me, I will hold whatever you choose to send, meaning your name, your email address and the details of your production, for as long as it takes to answer you and, if we work together, for the duration of that work. I do not add anyone to a mailing list and I do not share or sell contact details.
Hosting and server logs
This site is served by a third-party static host. Like effectively every web server, that host keeps standard request logs which can include IP addresses, timestamps and user-agent strings for security and operational purposes. I do not have any additional logging of my own on top of that.
Embedded video
Videos on this site are served directly from this site rather than from a third-party player, so watching one does not hand your details to a video platform.
Your rights
If you have contacted me and want to know what I hold, want it corrected, or want it deleted, ask and I will do it. There is no automated process because there is not enough data for one to be necessary.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
