About Sean Hendrix

I’m Sean Hendrix. I’m 20, I grew up in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and I’m a current student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), working toward a BFA in Sound Design with a minor in Film and Television. I’m still working on both, and I expect to graduate in December 2027.

How I got here

I have always wanted to work in the film industry. That part was never really in question. What took longer was working out which part of it I belonged in.

Sound design is where I found my calling. Specifically two things: sound effects editing and location sound. They sound like opposite jobs and in a lot of ways they are.

Location sound is the part where you have one chance, no undo, and a truck idling half a block away. Both of them come down to listening harder than everybody else on the crew, which is a thing I turned out to be built for.

What I’ve worked on

I’ve already worked on a feature film, Before the Storm, where I was sound utility. And on fifteen student films, where I was the audio mixer.

Alongside that I’ve been doing sound effects redesigns: taking a finished professional scene, muting its entire effects track, and rebuilding it from scratch. It is the fastest way I know to get better, because your work sits directly next to the work of people at the top of the craft and the comparison is merciless.

Where I am now

I live and study in Savannah, Georgia and I’m from Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Savannah costs you nothing extra, and beyond that I’m willing to travel anywhere for work.
